Professional Profile: Mr Shalaby graduated in 1996 and went on to specialise in orthopaedic surgery gaining the Masters Degree in 2001, the MD Degree in 2005 and the FRCS (Tr & Orth) Degree in 2006. His surgical training was undertaken in Cairo, Edinburgh, Liverpool and Nottingham, in some of the best higher surgical training rotations in Trauma & Orthopaedics.

Along his training, he gained interest in Foot & Ankle Surgery and Limb Reconstruction Surgery. He mastered those two sub-specialties during his major research project for an MD thesis on “Correction of Complex Foot & Ankle Deformities using the Ilizarov Frame”. In his sub-specialties, he conducted extensive research. He published in international journals and attended advanced courses and meetings.

He finished an Advanced Deformity Correction Fellowship in Liverpool and a Trauma Fellowship in Nottingham.

In his current post, he masters the entire spectrum on Foot & Ankle surgery including the most advanced treatment modalities as minimally invasive bunion surgery, minimally invasive forefoot pain surgery, joint replacement of the big toe joint, Cartiva implants for the big toe, subchondroplasty for stress fractures and bone lesions, AMIC for ankle cartilage lesions, primary and revision Total Ankle replacements, complex ankle ligament reconstructions, minimally invasive Achilles tendinopathy surgery, ankle arthroscopy, ankle joint distraction , gradual correction of complex deformities and reconstruction of Flat feet and the High Arch.

Mr. Shalaby lectures nationally and internationally on many aspects of Foot and Ankle surgery and Deformity correction. He is a reviewer for several international Orthopaedic journals. He is on the faculty of several International Orthopaedic and Trauma courses. His NHS practice is based at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and St John’s Hospital in Livingston.

Mr Shalaby is also an expert witness undertaking medicolegal work for both defenders and peruses

in personal injury cases as well as medical negligence cases.

Fees: My fees range from £180 for an initial consultation to £110 for a follow up visit.
